Project: New Futures Valentine's Party

Project Description: Valentine crafts for children (11 AM - 12 PM), Valentine/God's love themed pizza for all 25+ (12 PM - 1 PM). Volunteers needed to bring craft paper & supplies, paper plates & napkins, drinks, desserts, fruit or salad.

Project: Blood Drive

Project Description: Save lives on February 10th and GIVE BLOOD. Sign up for an appointment to give anytime between 9 AM and 1 PM. You must be 17 or older (16 with parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds, and have a photo ID with you.Who knew mission work could be this easy?! We are counting on you to help us reach our goal of 32 donors.

Project: Laundromat Outreach
Project Leader: James Ellis
Project Description: Teams of 2-4 people will take approximately $10 - $20 in quarters to local area coin Laundromats and distribute quarters and help fold laundry and talk to customers who are there on Saturday, February 10th.

Project: Huntsville Hospital Initiative - Parking Deck Token Project
Project Leader: Donna Payne
Project Description: Volunteers meet in hospital parking deck elevator hallway by token machine to get bags of tokens to pass out at the machine in the hallway and at the parking lot exit.

Project: Huntsville Hospital Initiative - Nurses' Station Baskets
Project Leader: Donna Payne
Project Description: 40 volunteers to get a basket (about a 2 gallon size) and fill it with all kinds of store bought snacks and goodies. A variety of sweet, salty, and nutritious snacks. Decorate the basket for Valentine's Day- very festive and cheerful. Deliver completed basket to the Wesley Center Friday evening, February 9th, to the lobby by the staircase.

Project: Huntsville Hospital Initiative - Waiting Rooms Hospitality
Project Leader: Donna Payne
Project Description: Volunteers needed for 2-hour shifts to serve bottled water and snacks in rolling coolers and offer friendly conversation with individuals in waiting areas. Extroverts Needed. Volunteers come in pairs to Wesley Center 30 minutes before their shift to load their coolers  with waters and snacks to go to the hospital waiting areas. They will return any snacks not used to the Wesley Center at the end of their shift.

Project: Huntsville Hospital Initiative - ICU Waiting Room Hospitality
Project Leader: Donna Payne
Project Description: A.) 4 Volunteers needed to meet at Wesley Center Kitchen Saturday morning at 9 AM to cut sub sandwiches, pack in ziplocks, and load coolers for delivery to the hospital ICU waiting area at 10:30.
B.) 4 Volunteers would serve a light lunch to families and friends waiting in the ICU waiting area. Extroverts needed for friendly conversation. Volunteers will serve and greet in the kitchen area, keep area neat, and clean up at the end. These volunteers will meet delivery car  from the church in the drive-thru in front of the hospital.

Project: Help with Legal Documents
Project Leader: Bethany Sneed
Project Description: Assisting those in need by preparing the legal documents of Advance Directives and Health Care Powers of Attorney, as well as provide general advice on wills and estate planning. We will serve out of the Greene Street entrance of our church, as well as go to nearby Todd Towers (204 Greene St NE, Huntsville, AL 35801). 9-12 on Saturday, February 10.

Project: Manna House

Project Description: We will meet at the Manna House from 9 AM until noon on February 10th, which is located in the single level tan building adjacent and just north the building housing Office Depot and The Rock Church on South Parkway. The Manna House supplies food supplies, prepared food, clothing, personal hygiene items and assortment of other supplies to those in need (as well as spiritual support), and is supported by our First United Methodist Church. Your Faith Promise donations support Manna House. Volunteers will be organizing clothes, medical supplies, and hygiene products. Family-friendly

Project: Habitat for Humanity
Project Leader: Art Hargrove
Project Description: Volunteers will work on one of the houses donated to Habitat for Humanity and which are now being refurbished for new Habitat families. They are Habitat houses built 10 to 15 years ago and the original Habitat families have moved to larger homes or gotten new jobs in other places and rather than sell their Habitat house, they have elected to donate them to new Habitat families. We will be painting walls and maybe ceilings. Volunteers will need to dress appropriately but won't need to bring any tools or equipment. All volunteers need to first take our orientation class before volunteering. Our next class is scheduled for January 27th, 2018 at 10 AM at the Habitat office. Habitat is supported by your Faith Promise giving.

Project: Stepping Stone Halfway House

Project Description: Stepping Stone is a halfway house for addicts and alcoholics who are new to Recovery. We will provide a meal for 20 young men who do not have a job and who have not been at the halfway house very long. We are having a taco bar. Supplies needed: paper plates, lettuce, salsa, taco chips, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and desserts. Taco meat is taken care of.

Project: Visiting Our Veterans

Project Description: Visit our sometimes-forgotten veterans at the Tut Fann Veterans Home. A group will spend time with some people who don't get a lot of visitors on Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Listen to these folks and ask them to tell their stories. Family-friendly

Project: Organizing at Grateful Life Community Church

Project Description: Remove all items from storage area, clean space, organize items, store items in bins, hangers, etc. and place items back in storage area. Assemble shelving for storage area and place in storage area. Clean our sink area and remove existing shelving/replace with metal rolling shelving. Project: Lincoln Village

Project Description: Give the Lincoln Academy classrooms a thorough wipe down cleaning! The church team will use disinfectant cloths to wipe every desk, counter, tabletop, toy, etc... Our acts of love will go a long way to help students and faculty stay ahead of illness and "make all things new." There may also be some painting involved, so sign up and stay tuned.
